Dry Needling

Dry needling is a form of physical therapy that uses thin needles to stimulate trigger points in the muscles. These trigger points are areas of muscle tension that can cause pain, tightness, and restricted movement. Dry needling is used to relieve pain, improve movement and flexibility, and promote healing.

Dry needling is based on the principles of Western medicine and is a safe, effective treatment for many conditions, including chronic pain, headaches, and muscle tightness. It can also be used to treat injuries such as strains and sprains and reduce healing time.

During a dry needling session, our specially trained physical therapist will insert thin needles into the affected muscle or muscle group. These needles are thin and do not inject any substances into the body. The needles stimulate the muscle and surrounding tissue, causing the muscle to relax, release tension, increase blood flow and immediately reduce pain.

Dry needling is a relatively painless procedure and many patients report feeling a slight twitching sensation during the treatment. After the needles are removed, patients may experience some mild soreness, but this typically subsides within a day or two.

Dry needling is often used in conjunction with other physical therapy techniques to achieve optimal results. The number of sessions needed will vary depending on the condition being treated and the individual's response to treatment.
